Issue Position

The First Amendment to the Constitution begins very clearly: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." I believe that everyone should have the right to worship in the way they see fit, and the way they worship should not be encumbered by the government. Our religious liberty freedoms were designed to keep government out of your religion, not keep religious values out of government. I am alarmed at the continued threat against our religious liberties and I will stand against any legislation which seeks to undermine those freedoms. I am proud to be endorsed by key leaders and organizations who are on the front lines in this fight including Kelly Shackelford, President and CEO of First Liberty; Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values; and Ann Hettinger, State Director of Concerned Women of America -- Texas.
